Heading to college can be a daunting situation for any freshman, especially if it is their first time away from home. 1. Mattress Topper

If you have ever seen a college mattress before, you will understand why it is necessary to have a mattress topper. These toppers, which cost between $15 to $50, will greatly increase the softness and comfort of your bed. They are an inexpensive way to improve the quality of the cheap, hard, and often very old college mattresses.

2. Printer/Copier/Scanner Combo

While there are likely to be plenty of printers, scanners, and copiers at your college library, it is can be very convenient to have one in your dorm room. For one, you will not have to leave your room to print out assignments, papers, and relevant coursework material. In addition, you will have a back up in case any of the printers at the library or your dorm building stop working. One of the devices in the end is just convenient, since you won’t have to worry about rushing to the library before your class, bringing the document up on a computer, and waiting in line just to print something.

3. Earplugs

If you are a college freshman, chances are you will be living with one or two other people. Even if your roommates are great people, and try to be as courteous as possible, they are going to disturb you from time to time. Instead of waking up at the slightest of noises, it is best to sleep with earplugs on. Make sure to get the same earplugs that military officers use, because these are great at blocking sound. It might also be a good idea to invest in a good pair of headphones that have noise canceling technology, since this will also give you the option of blocking out sounds with music.

4. Coffee Maker or Kettle

Coffee or tea are essential supplies when you are pulling all nighters to try and finish a paper or study for an exam. Instead of having to walk all the way to a coffee/tea kiosk, you can make coffee in your dorm room with a coffee maker or a kettle. If you prefer tea or instant coffee, a kettle should suffice.

5. Storage Units

When you are moving from room to room every year, storing items can be a challenging task. Instead of having to get rid of all your valuables, you can store them at a storage unit over winter and summer breaks. If you need to store your belongings near Puyallup, Washington, it is probably a good idea to look up nearby storage unit companies. Most storage units come with cheap monthly rates, and have convenient locations where you can store all your valuables. This is a much better option than trying to move everything back and forth between multiple locations.
Each item in this list will be invaluable by the time your school year has ended. Your life will be so much easier when you are sleeping on a comfortable bed, making coffee in your dorm room, and putting earplugs on so that you are not disturbed by the music that your roommate is playing at three in the morning.
