The 116th Foundation Day of West Visayas State University (WVSU) kicks off with fireball energy as students from the different colleges and external campuses participate in the University Parade and Street Dance. Marshalls and Drum Corps led the lineup, following them are the university officials, faculty, and staff and WVSU Alumni who excitedly clutched blue and white balloons while sauntering towards the stage. The parade covered the trail from the Nursing building to the back of the Grandstand, and to the Gabaldon Building.

Despite the 8:30 a.m. heat and distance, students from College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Communication (COC), College of Education (COC), College of Nursing (CON), College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT), College of Business and Management (CBM), College of Medicine  (COM), Integrated Laboratory School (ILS), Senior High School (SHS), Pototan Campus, Lambunao Campus, Calinog Campus, and the Himamaylan Extension Campus nailed the parade with their fiery energy. At one point, these students found their places in front of the Admin Building to showcase their street dance performance to an appreciative crowd while cheering for the name of their college, and grooving to Pitbull’s latest hit song, “Fireball”.

WVSU truly illuminated in bright hues that morning: CON’s pink-filled performance which involved students waving pink balloons while wearing matching colored shirts secured their spot as first place performers. The “blue” dancing educators of COE came in second, while COC won many hearts as they waved rainbow flags with their LGBTQ pride month theme.

Truly, there is no greater way to start the celebration than this energetic parade filled with creative choreography, attractive props, and loud cheers. Year 116 shines at its brightest and surely, WVSU will have more colorful years to come!
