The public will get to see a newly restored University of the Philippines Oblation Plaza during its inauguration on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

Located at the end of the University Avenue, the Oblation Plaza has been restored to its original design with fountain and multi-colored lighting. Steady jets of water forming parabolic arches are lit with the University’s colors.

Designed by Nathaniel Dueñas and finished in 1974, the Oblation Plaza was constructed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the university’s transfer to Diliman. The alumni, who funded the construction, envisioned a plaza that would highlight the iconic Oblation statue, which has since become a famous tourist spot in the city.

The inauguration is open to the public. Fountains and lights will be switched on at 6 o’clock in the evening.
