In the Midst of Affliction

“I believe that counseling techniques guided by biblical principles are the best way to reach out and help people in the ministry. More than the desire to help, I feel that this is my calling. I am looking forward to be trained to be as a servant-leader to the community that the Lord will be sending me. All for His glory and honor.”

Lane says this with conviction because her life experiences may be just the key to encourage somebody else to keep going.

She got married a year after she graduated from college but the marriage did not work out. On top of that, both her parents had cancer and as the eldest daughter, she was tasked to take care of them. Her children went to her husband and her parents eventually passed away. Ten years later, she was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Through all these trials, the Lord was with her.

Now that she is completely restored physiologically, Lane thanks God everyday and lives life with gratitude and rejoicing. This is her ministry. Her physical affliction is God’s way of encouraging others as she gets to be invited to speak and share her powerful testimony with family and friends, and in Christian churches in Manila and nearby provinces.

It is amazing how Lane has kept it together and persevered through all those times when she was being torn apart. In the words of Henri Nouwen, “We can only keep it together when we believe that God holds us together. We can only win our lives when we remain faithful to the truth that every little part of us is completely safe in the divine embrace of our Lord.”

We are blessed with how the Lord allows ATS to partner with His children in their journey of faith. Lane is just one of the many blessings in our community. We hope to equip and encourage more people as they respond to God’s call.  “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
(1 Peter 5:10)
