February 12, 2016 - Bearing the theme Duc in Altum (Cast into the deep), Mary Help of Christians College Seminary (MHCCS) in Lingayen, Dagupan hosted this year’s Isang Tugon Kay Kristo (SangTuKristo), an annual gathering of the seminaries from Northern and Central Luzon.
Most Reverend Socrates B. Villegas D.D., Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, presided the opening mass, one of the highlights of the event, at St. John the Evangelist Metropolitan Cathedral. “Our SangTuKristo 2016 must be a SangTuKristo of mercy. Every seminary must be a seedbed of mercy,” the archbishop said in his homily as he inculcated to the participants the message of this year’s Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. He even cited points to instill in their minds that this event should remind the seminarians to live in mercy as they cast their nets into the deep: “There is no mercy without humanity; there is no mercy without divinity; there is no mercy without spirituality. Be seminarians of mercy, humbly accepting our humanity, persistently trusting in divinity, generously living our spirituality.”
SangTuRaceTo, parodied to the name of the event, is another highlight held at Tondaligan Beach Resort. Seminarians applied the four pillars of formation in this team building activity.
At the culmination night, seminarians showed the culture of their respective provinces as they combined dancing, singing, and role playing.
Eight seminaries attended the event namely MHCCS, Immaculate Conception Major Seminary (ICMAS), Maria Assumpta Seminary (MAS), Mary Cause of our Joy Seminary (MCJCS), St. Joseph College Seminary (SJCS), Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (TAMS), Our Lady of Peace College Seminary (OLPCS), and Mother of Good Counsel College Seminary (MGCCS).
Mother of Good Counsel College Seminary (MGCCS) in Pampanga will be the host of SangTuKristo 2017.
