School Summary

Wesleyan University-Philippines (WU-P) is a private, non-stock, non-profit and non-sectarian university located in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines and ran by the United Methodist Church (UMC). Founded in 1946 as the Philippine Wesleyan College, it is named after John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. The university offers pre-elementary, grade school, high school, undergraduate, and graduate programs. It also initiated a SHARE (Studentship Assistance for the Handicapped and their Rehabilitation through Education) program, the first school in Central Luzon to integrate hearing-impaired students into mainstream classes.

Wesleyan awards Outstanding Alumni/Alumnae 

Wesleyan University-Philippines awarded seven alumni/alumnae as “Natatanging Wesleyanians” during the General Homecoming, one of the highlights of the celebration of the 74th Founding Anniversary.

Lilibeth F. Torres was accorded recognition for being the country’s topnotcher in the 2019 Social Work Licensure Exam. 

Joselito Daluz, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 1993, was awarded “Natatanging Wesleyanian”. 

Ronaldo Batisan a cum laude graduate of BS Accountancy in 2004, was awarded during this occasion for his outstanding service in Science and Technology. Ron, as his friends fondly call him, is the Assistant Vice President of the Customer Experience Group. He led a 7-internal team and 24 external partners in the launch of the Philippines’ first fully digital bank branch called “The Ark”.

Annie P. Hernandez finished her BS Nursing in 1979. She is “Natatanging Wesleyanian” for pioneering the first ever tertiary referral government Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. 

Alvin dela Serna Lopez is a Bachelor of Arts, Political Science graduate in 2009 won 3rd Prize in poetry (English) for his poem anthology, “Departures”, in the 69th Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards in Literature. 

Benjamin Joel Breboneria finished his BS in Nursing and graduated as cum laude in 2006. Benjo is a lecturer in various schools of nursing, including Wesleyan University-Philippines. He served people in the far flung places of Nueva Ecija. In Saudi Arabia, he conducted outreach activities which greatly contributed to the development of healthcare institutions like the Ministry of Health, Hofuf, Al-Ahsa, and King Faisal University.

Bobbi Jean Breboneria  graduated summa cum laude in 2004, worked at SGV Philippines as Senior Associate, ventured abroad in 2007, was Senior Associate in KPMG Luxembourg, joining a 39-nationality real estate group.

Wesleyan partners with Asia Foundation to open Clinical Legal Education Program in SY 2020-2021

Wesleyan University-Philippines and Asia Foundation signed a memorandum of agreement forging partnership between the two organizations to initiate a Clinical Legal Education Program at Wesleyan University-Philippines. John Wesley School of Law and Governance with the leadership of Dean J.V. Bautista, will be on the cutting edge of the program which will start operation in school-year 2020-2021. 
The MOA was signed by Judge Benjamin D. Turgano, President of Wesleyan University-Philippines, and Atty. Carolina A. Mercado, Senior Legal Advisor of The Asia Foundation. The MOA signing was done at the JJD Auditorium on February 11, 2020 in the presence of Atty. Chudney G. Ngo, Legal Specialist of the Office of International Law Enforcement and Narcotics Affairs, Atty. J.V. Bautista, Dean of the John Wesley College of Law and Governance, the Wesleyan Administration officials, faculty and students.
Asia Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental international organization committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia. This foundation will be helping the JWSLG in the preparation and operation of the Clinical Legal Education Program.
