School Summary

AdventistUniversity of the Philippines is located in Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, Philippines, on the boundary of the province of Laguna – 50 kilometers or about an hour drive by car from Manila. The 165-hectare university is on an elevated area overlooking Laguna de Bay. A sixty-kilometer stretch of the lake, the range of the majestic Mount Makiling, and an overview of a beautiful canyon comprise what one Adventist educator has termed “the million-dollar view” of AUP. The site is just an hour away from the mainland and 30 minutes away from Tagaytay City—acclaimed to be one of the coolest and most beautiful cities in the country. From the expressway, motorists pass through the Sta. Rosa exit before turning right to travel along the road that passes by the Coca-Cola Bottlers plant to the Laguna Technopark—the Ayala of the South.

Adventist University of the Philippines

It's Take over Tuesday again, AUPians!

Ron Ivan Perdido, “Sir Ivan” to us here at AUP, graduated in 2014 with his Bachelors in Management Accounting. He tells us that AUP was never an option. Growing up in one of the known summer capitals in the Philippines, he enjoyed the known Baguio pine trees and cold showers and that was his comfort zone. Not until God nudged him to pack up and travel down the zigzag road to the then small gate of our University.

“Looking back (Yet again. I like looking back because it makes me appreciate what is ahead), I never planned to become a teacher. Never in any part of my lateral frontal pole (thanks Google), have I ever thought that I'd be working in AUP too. I never imagined myself telling students, "nung time namin..." This makes me feel so ancient 😭. But then again, the Lord sees differently (and perfectly) and He brought me in as part of the AUP Family. Today, I can't help the joy of witnessing, everyday, students growing in Christ through AUP; and witnessing to them as well how the Lord has been good and faithful to AUP."

Sir Ivan is one of our teachers at the College of Business. He shares with us, “I was never formally trained to become a teacher, but I believe AUP's values of service and God's grace equip me everyday.”

Let’s see what a day in the life of someone inside AUP’s gates are like! View Sir @ivanperdido’s #TakeOverTuesday on ourInstagram Stories!

Thanks so much, Lerynne, for sharing.

Shine on dude Bee and Lance! #ElitesOfAUP

This past weekend, August 31-September 2, was a fun one for our Alumni of Western America (AWESNA). The 46th Annual AWESNA Convention was held in Edmonton, Canada.

Some of our Administrators were at the Convention such as our University Advancement Director Mr. Oemer Rey Daquila, Human Resources Director Dr. Reuel Esteban Narbarte, and Vice President for Academics Dr. Miriam Peralta Narbarte.

We will be posting a couple of video clips that with the help of our young alumni that were at the convention, we got to post on the stories of AUP's Instagram. (@AUPShineOn)

To the AWESNA, thank you for keeping AUP alive in your hearts and for always finding ways on how you can give back to your beloved Alma Mater. Everyone here are grateful for all of you!

Shadrach Frederico Padasas Aldovino graduated from AUP in 2016 as a Medical Technologist. Being an RMT, R-enewed, M-olded, T-ransformed in Jesus Christ, Eric decided to bring his overflowing love for Jesus as a Missionary working at the Adventist Health-System, Waterloo Hospital in Sierra Leone, West Africa. This hospital is part of the long history of SDA-provided health care in the area, a history spanning more than 50 years.

With Malaria and Typhoid being endemic in the area, this hospital is a beaming candle in the night.

Eric says that whenever he looks back at the years he spent as a college student at AUP, he sees the many times that the Lord has carried him through. “If there’s one thing that I’ve learned in AUP, it is that the Lord is ever faithful and ever true to His promises… God has a special calling to each one of us to be co-workers together with Him. AUP is richly blessed to have trained students to love, serve, and to share Jesus Christ’s Ministry to this world and the world to come.” 🇸🇱

Message of Condolence
Bienvenido E. Capule, MSBA
Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce, Honoris Causa

There are thousands of people the University owes gratitude to and Pastor Bienvenido E. Capule remains as one of the luminaries at the top of our list. With a remarkable career spanning four decades as an accountant, educator, and administrator, Pastor Capule is a proven man of action, a man of faith, and a man of God.

He continuously contributed to the positive image of AUP as he passionately supported AUP projects, programs and ideals, with a vision to provide affordable and quality Bible-based, Adventist education to the youth along with excellent healthcare services. Also as the Commerce Department Chair, Public Relations Director, and Business Manager of Philippine Union College, then, he led the youth and created an immense impact.

While serving Mountain View College, Pastor Capule helped place the school on the map of quality Christian education in Mindanao. He spearheaded the Manila Sanitarium and Hospital, now Adventist Medical Center-Manila, into the hospital of choice in Pasay City. He contributed, significantly, to the church and community and manifested sheer dedication and integrity.

Pastor Bienvenido Capule has reminded the youth that faithful and selfless service to the church and community is of foremost importance and a thousand times better than any riches the world can offer. AUP family mourns with you but is hopeful that we will all, one day, be reunited as we claim those treasures, stored up for us, in our heavenly home.

The Adventist University of the Philippines family mourns with the Fernando family on the passing of Mrs. Adela Fernando. She is the wife of the late Dr. Celedonio Fernando, a former president of AWESNA and a strong supporter of the University. Dr. and Mrs. Fernando's story of leadership is an inspiration to us. Together, they led the growth of the alumni associations during the 17 years that Dr. Fernando selflessly served as president of the association. The $76,000 Alfonso P. Roda Alumni Center was inaugurated in 1989 because of their leadership along with other dedicated alumni. They believed that AUP/PUC was true to its mission as the "School that Trains for Service”.

Mrs. Adela Pumarada Fernando placed Philippine Union College on the map of the top performing nursing schools in the Philippines when she got the Top 1 place in the Nursing Board Examinations in 1954 among some 4,000 examinees from different nursing schools in the Philippines. Her husband described her as one of the most beautiful and intelligent Adventist women that he was sure he will want to spend the rest of his life with. It was felt in his words the pride he had for having an amazing person by his side.

The AUP family is extending our love and prayers to you, the Fernando family, for it feels like we have also lost a member of our family. We are blessed to believe in the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 that we are to soon see our sleeping loved ones who will be raised from the ground at that glorious trumpet sound. Continue to cling to the blessed hope!

Is it just me or the voice over is really annoying? The script is too lengthy when the text for student achievements was enough already. the pronunciation not impressive too. coming from a school with a big population of international students, they could have at least picked someone with good voice quality and a persuasive accent.

An additional building was added to our Music Department! May 17, at 10 AM, the Minnie Iverson Wood Music Building, a name that is still to be finalized, was inaugurated. The ceremony was filled with happy tunes for the music majors played and sung their hearts out with joy. Some of our administrators, faculty, and staff were present at the ceremony. Dr. Francisco Gayoba, our University’s President challenged the students that the hill where the building stands on should always be filled with music. The inspiring story behind the building was read by Prof. Dante C. Oblimar, the Music Departments former Dept. Chair. Pastor Rex Mangiliman offered the prayer of blessing and then the building turned over to the current Dept. Chair, Mrs. Sheryl Ann Botabara-de Dios by the Development Director, Engr. Jesreel Lagariza. Dr. Robert Borromeo, Mr. Oemer Rey Daquila, Mrs. Neri R. Beratio, Mrs. Jewel Bitco Solidum, the building’s architect, Arch. Lelanie Malala and other faculty and staff from different departments were there as well to join in the celebration.

Pictures of the actual building’s exterior and interior will be posted soon. The new building has been talked about to be the perfect venue for recitals, concerts, and other events as it also has an overlooking view and a cool breeze.

Hello fellow AUPians!

The school year is almost done and we are nearing Graduation! We all know right before that, the annual Alumni Banquet takes place.

This year, we have made a way that all of you, our dear alumni, will be able to participate!

Our banquet which is themed “Into All the World” is one that we wish our Graduating Class of 2018 will feel their AUP family bidding them farewell and the Alumni warmly welcoming them in. There will be a segment in the program called “A Minute Around the World". We are looking for alumni that will be willing to record one whole video of themselves answering these questions:

1.) What is your name? What part of the world are you in right now? What year did you finish and what course/program did you take?
2.) What is one thing you miss about AUP? (one sentence)
3.) I am a proud AUPian because… (Less than 15 words)
4.) One phrase you would want to tell our graduating students? (Ex. “You will miss the caf food”)

Instructions:
1.) The video should be recorded horizontally.
2.) Make your answers short for the segment is only a minute long.
3.) BE CREATIVE! Record yourself in a place that will show where you are in the world.
4.) You may record with a fellow alumni from the same location.

Upload options:
a. Post it on Youtube with the settings set as "unlinked" and email the link to alumnibanquet@aup.edu.ph
b. Send it directly to the mentioned email through Google Drive.

What's in it for you?
As an incentive for your participation, you will be entitled to one entry for the grand raffle draw during the banquet!!! That is definitely something you don't want to miss out on!

The deadline for this video will be on May 18, 2018 at 12 NN UTC +8.

Thank you for you participation! Our graduates will surely feel the warm welcome through your words! May God bless you!

Last week, on February 13, Guinayangan College Foundation Inc. visited us from Brgy. Sisi Guinayangan, Quezon.
Senior Students of their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration along with their School Registrar, Prof. Menierva Manalo and their President and Founder, Prof. Leah Z. Guerra spent the morning with us.

One of their students is doing a thesis on Vegemeat so we brought them to the Food Factory. Thanks to the Food Factory's staff and especially Ma'am Vangie Morales for answering their questions plus a free taste of newly baked Hopia!Come and visit us! Our campus welcome you!
